NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
UNIT NO:543

National Service Scheme (NSS)is a central Sector Scheme of government of India, ministry of youth affairs and sports. It provides opportunities to the student youth to take part in various government led community service activities and programmes. The sole aim of NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in driving community services.

Activities of NSS CEK

NSS Volunteers engage themselves in social services which would help the society in different ways. Our students used to do several programs such as planting trees, cleaning public places, etc. During the pandemic too, our volunteers did several programs online which were great success. Some of the programs are listed below.

                      

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM ON OPEN STREET MAPPING(24th – 31st August 2021)

An internship program was conducted for 5 days in which the volunteers were taught the OSM and then worked hands on the same. Students mapped different locations using the OSM tool. The program was set up to teach the students about the Open Sources and their usage.

SWATHANTHRA 2.0 (AUGUST 15 2021)

Swathanthra 2.0 was conducted as a part of the Independence Day. Online contests such as Debate, Speech, paper craft, drawing, patriotic song and Quiz competitions were set. Students from different colleges took part in the event. The program was set to set a sense of patriotism among students towards the nation

AWARENESS FOR CONTROLLING ANEMIA(June 12 2021)

ICDS Kerala and CE Karunagappally had set up a collaborative awareness session on controlling anemia among teen agers and youngsters. Reshmi(Dietician) from Taluk Hospital, Karunagappally had taken the session. The session was very useful for the students as it provided a clear about the scenario.

ASHRITHA (June 05 2021)

The program was set up as a part of World Environment Day on June 05 2021. The program consisted of three sub-programs namely No litter, Gift to nature and Quiz competition. The programs were set up to make students aware about the need to preserve nature and to protect it. Several students from different schools and colleges took part in the events. The program was a big success and all the participants enjoyed the events.

                       

PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST (May 08 2021)

An intercollege photography contest was conducted on May 8th as a part of Mother’s Day celebration. The participants were asked to send their recreated photos with their mother. Several entries had come up and the best entry was declared as a winner. Winners were provided certificates.

                                                          

EUPHORIA (14 November 2020)

As a part of Children’s Day, our volunteers had set up a fun session with little kids from Hope Community Village, Cherthala. Different programs were set up including songs and game sessions. The children had a very good time with our volunteers and coordinators. The program was set up to bring a sense of togetherness and brotherhood among our volunteers. The program was a great success.

#MY OZONE CHALLENGE (16 September 2020)

As a part of Ozone Day, NSS volunteers of CE Karunagappally had set up an online campaign called #myozonechallenge. A photo of the participant and his/her cycle was to be posted on social medias under the hashtag #myozonechallenge. Entries were flooded in social medias. There had a been wide participation including music director Faisal Razi. The program had been a great success and in endorsed the need to put a control on pollution and protect our ozone layer among students and society.

                                                          

 

DEEPTHAM (4th and 5th September 2020)

As a part of Teacher’s Day celebrations, our NSS volunteers had set up a virtual event. It had been a two-day event. The first day included a teaching session for students from Ideal LP school. Our volunteers had taught them various science topics. The second day included a fun and informative session for the children from Gandhi bhavan children’s home, Pathanapuram. There was also a fun session for our teachers with the Alumni. The total event was a great success. the program was meant to create a stronger bond with teachers and to make them aware of the importance of education and knowledge.
